Local Business Leaders Do Big Business July 2009
BNI Team Winning Edge are attempting to become the biggest and most successful BNI Chapter in the world and went a long way towards achieving that goal on Wednesday when more than 130 local business leaders attended a Big Breakfast at the Maroochy Surf Club.
The huge turnout was proof that business on the Sunshine Coast is alive and kicking and looking to prosper. And to emphasise the BNI networking skills more than $16,000 worth of business was conducted during a delicious breakfast.
“BNI is not a get-rich-quick scheme,” Winning Edge President Andrew Plimmer told the captive audience. “BNI is based on the premise that if you help other people with their business, they will be inclined to want to help you with your business.”
Mr Plimmer said BNI is a “system” that works very successfully in over 5000 Chapters around the world, passing billions of dollars annually.
“We are not a breakfast club. The primary objective of our weekly meetings is to get to know one another’s business and the services they provide, so that we can confidently find and pass referrals to our team members,” he said.
During the breakfast Members stood up and confidently gave a one minute summary of their business and services and then handed out business referrals to other Members. Some guests appeared astounded at how simple and effective the BNI philosophy is.
By the end of the breakfast at least six business people signed up as Members on the spot and a further 20 business application forms were taken away.
Mr Plimmer said the BNI Team Winning Edge Kawana Chapter commenced in September 2008 and intends to become the biggest and most successful BNI Chapter in the world.
“We are heading in the right direction and by this time next year I fully expect our team to grow and grow and do more and more business with each other,” he said.
Sunshine Coast BNI Chapter Sets The Record - September 2009
Sunshine Coast Business Networking Group, BNI Team Winning Edge, eclipsed the 50 membership mark last week and is well on the way of becoming the biggest and most successful BNI Chapter in the world. And to celebrate this auspicious occasion they held a party at Ken Mills Toyota to commemorate the event with some drinks and a few congratulatory pats on the back for a job well done.

Team Winning Edge President Andrew Plimmer sang the praises of the group and congratulated them on working hard to develop a good solid network of local business people.
“Every business member of BNI Team Winning Edge now has at least 50 sales staff working for them and they don’t have to pay them a brass razoo, except the $20 they pay for their own breakfast every week.”
“That’s a pretty cost-effective form of employment in this day and age,” Mr Plimmer said.
He said besides the fantastic networking opportunities the BNI team were creating among themselves they were also learning a lot about other people’s business and more about business practices, business strategies and business marketing.
“All of these opportunities give each and every one of us powerful tools to improve and advance our own business and develop skills as a team player and as a business leader.”
“And to emphasise the value to these businesses Team Winning Edge contributed 68 referrals last week with nearly $90,000 of closed business, which brings our total for the month to $177,000,” he said.
Mr Plimmer said if any local business person with high ethical standards wants to join the BNI Team Winning Edge Chapter to help grow their business and develop their contacts they can attend a Tuesday breakfast meeting by contacting him on 0407 589 601 or visit the website www.teamwinningedge.com.au.
